Unit 5 Feedback

Hi Erica and Paige, Overall you have done a really nice job on the layout and content of your section on complementary medicine.   Since asthma is not a condition that has personally touched my life, I have admittedly given little consideration to the dietary implications for natural management of the disease manifestation.    It does seem highly logical to emphasize a diet that would enable the body to be the most robust in order to fend off potential ailments.    The area of nutritional management is really a fascinating topic.    Particularly when considering the interactions of each individual’s gutmicrobiome and the unique triggers for gut inflammation that may not be easily noticeable within the rest of the body.    For the lay reader who may not be familiar with the presentation of an asthmatic attack, it may be potentially beneficial for content to include the baseline presentation of an individual compared with an acute exac...

Feedback Unit 4

Hello Erica,      I believe that you and Ashton did a good job with this section of the website. I think having an introductory video for Autism and the basis of explaining this condition is a really good idea. Through the video, you were able to drop key information that might otherwise get lost in translation. I like that the video ends with reminding people that there is a positive side to autism. As for a few formatting suggestions, I would maybe replace your first section header of "Disease" with simply "Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)" or something along those lines. This way if someone is quickly looking through the site, it will be in bold and the person will know what the section is about. I like that you both decided to take an alternative approach and used an image to explain the diagnosis criteria. I would suggest that within the written portion, maybe add the few key elements in which a child is diagnosed. I absolutely LOVE the video of t...

Feedback Unit 3

Hi Erica, the following is my feedback to you and Paige for unit 3. Thank you for giving us some good info on an interesting and important topic for any age group. Pete Hite Feedback Unit 3 This week I chose to review the unit 3 contribution on the early childhood life-stage. The authors, Erica Porras and Paige Schwarz, wrote about the five elements covered in unit 3: risk factors, protective factors, dietary and fitness guidelines, and the implications of the interplay between food and body. The early childhood life-stage discusses girls from birth to age 6. All of the elements were well organized and clearly titled.  The authors introduce the idea of Eating Disorders in Children with an interesting and informative video. I thought this video appropriately addressed the issue at hand, though it didn’t specifically talk about children from birth to age 6.  The video did well to introduce some of the challenges of recognition and diagnosis of eating disorders in ch...

Feedback Unit 3

The writers of this page had all but one of the sections required of this unit. The writers have a section for Implications of the interplay between food and body but there is not yet any content for this section. The writers have sufficient amount of content in each section as well. There was good use of headings to highlight the sections of the webpage.   The use of headings made the webpage very easy to follow along. The creators organized the page in a manner that is easy to follow and flows from one section to the next. Overall the grammar and spelling of this page were written well.   There is only a couple instances that I could see where there could be some edits made, in two of the paragraphs there are extra spaces between words, and then in the dietary guidelines section there is one sentence that has the word “between” written twice in a row.   Other than those few things the page is written well. The writers did well with the wri...

Feedback Unit 2

Hi Erica! First off, I really found your Unit 2 website section to be very informative and well thought out. Your pictures and videos went hand in hand with your sections and your different sections were very well organized and easy to to distinguish. I think your best sections were the emotional factors and implications for health and well-being. Both of these sections had tons of information and really addressed all aspects of that issue. You really did a great job of outlining the emotional differences that girls have during this stage and your graphic was well chosen and drove your points home. Your implications section did a great job of identifying potential risk factors and addressing strategies of how to approach girls in this age group. The video you chose to go along with this section was perfectly chosen. As far as some improvements that could have been made, I do see a couple. Your psychological section was good, but I feel like you only scratched the surface! I definitel...
